FREE Speech and Language Screening Tests

The ability to communicate is the most important of all human survival skills. Our capacity to speak, listen and relate to other human beings will determine, more than any other factor, the quality of our lives. Yet, about ten percent of all children struggle with basic speech and language skills. They are at high risk for social, emotional, educational and, eventually, vocational failure. Early identification and treatment is the key to preventing unnecessary hardship in a child's life.

Concerned about your child's communication skills? Are you unsure if there is a problem? London Speech & Language Centre is pleased to offer FREE speech & language screening tests Mondays from 3:30 to 5:00pm. These are brief and help determine the need for a full speech & language assessment. Please call the Center to book an appointment.

Cracking the Code:
Early Identification & Treatment of Childhood Literacy Delays

Learning to read has important life-long implications.  Most children “crack the code” by grade one; however, the foundation for reading success is formed long before this time.  Phonemic (sound) awareness, an area of assessment and treatment focus for speech-language pathologists, is one of the most important early indicators of literacy development in 5-8 year old children.  This workshop provides details on childhood literacy development, early warning signs for literacy delays and impairments, and intervention strategies to help 6-8 year olds who struggle with reading and writing skills.

Helping People with ASDs Connect with the World Around Them

By definition, children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) have difficulties with communication, social and/or behaviour development.
